Biography
Baburam Bhattarai, born on June 18, 1954, in Khoplang, Nepal, is a Nepalese politician, former Maoist leader, and economist. He served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 2011 to 2013 and was a key ideologue of the Maoist movement. Bhattarai was the chief ideologue and finance minister of the Maoist government during the civil war. He has a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. After the peace process, he played a significant role in Nepal's constitution-making. He later formed the Nepal Samajbadi Party (New Force) and has been involved in various social causes. Known for his intellectual approach to politics, Bhattarai has authored several books on political economy and development.
